So for years, the only Sublimation solution, was the use of Epson printers, where Sublimation Ink replaced the original ink.
The catch however, has always been to achieve the correct Colour Output
Sublimation ink, is actually a chemical that reacts under heat, and in order to ensure that the colours are correct when Sublimating, we had to create "colour profiles" for use in Photoshop and Corel Draw, and more recently Affinity Designer when doing Sublimation printing.
It has been quite a schlepp for many years.
Also, once Sublimation ink, is used in the Epson's, the warranty is cancelled.
The Epson's are also quite sensitive, in that the ink needs to flow on a daily basis, to prevent print heads from clogging up
All the above changed, when Brother launched their official sublimation printer at the start of 2024, in the USA.
The Brother printer is built for Sublimation, the "AI" in the printer does the Colour Management, so, you can do your Sublimation Printing, as if you are using a normal Inkjet Printer.
It has a 2 year Brother SA warranty, and it just works.

How long will the ink last that comes with the printer?
The printer comes with a full-size set of Ink Tanks of 47ml each, so this will depend on the frequency of printing, the size of the print and the amount of ink used for your design. Each user’s usage will be different.
Our internal testing has indicated that we are using 0,06ml - 0,08ml per colour per printed page
What software programs can I print from?

- You can print from any application that has a print function.
Create or select your design - navigate to the "Print" option within the application - choose your printer settings - click "Print" to send the design to your Brother Sublimation printer.
If I do not use the printer often will the ink dry out?
- Do not ever switch your SP-1 off at the wall.
- The printer will automatically clean the print head as needed while it remains plugged in and powered on. If switched off entirely the print heads could become clogged.
What ink can I use?
- We always recommend Brother genuine Sublimation Ink for best results.
- Through research and development, we have carefully engineered our Sublimation ink and unique Print Head.
What sublimation paper works best?
- We recommend always using a high quality, high resolution sublimation paper.
- The higher the "ink release properties" of the paper are, the better the Sublimated image will be.
- It is important that the paper be kept flat and dry to avoid curling of the paper edge, as the curled edge may strike the print head and lead to smudging
